Envirosax Re-usable Bag Review

Envirosax Re-usable Bag Review

This review is long overdue… I have been using and loving Envirosax bags since 2010.  I always liked re-usable bags in theory but when it came to actually using them they tended to be inconvenient and/or annoying.  Initially I tried the kind that lay flat like a brown paper bag.  They hold a fair amount of weight and come in every size imaginable but they’re a pain to store.  I tried keeping them in the back of my car but constantly forgot to bring them into the store or forgot to return them to my trunk after unloading.  Next I tried several different roll up bags.  I loved that they actually fit in my purse but found most of them to be really annoying to fold.  They either took too long (my attention span is about 3 seconds) or required a separate piece such as a pouch or band that I inevitably lost.  Furthermore, I’m picky about texture and most bags either felt too heavy and stiff or so flimsy I was afraid to rip them.

So long story short, in 2010 my cousin and I stumbled upon Envirosax bags in a little bookstore in upstate New York.  Amy saw me eyeing them and bought me one as a gift (thanks Amers).  It was love at first carry – I have used them almost exclusively ever since!  The bags I have are the Envirosax Graphic Series and this is what I like about them:

  1. They weigh just 1.4 ounces and fold up nice and small.   I keep 3 in my purse at all times without adding much weight or bulk.
  2. They’re easy to fold back up – just fold into thirds, roll and secure with the attached snap.  Nothing complicated and no parts to lose.
  3. They hold a TON (44lbs according to the website)!  I use them at the farmer’s market and have literally carried watermelons in these bad boys, it’s pretty awesome.
  4. They last a long time.  I’ve been using my initial bag multiple times a week for over 3 years and it’s in perfect condition.  I have since purchased 5 more bags and haven’t had a single rip, tear, stretched seam or any other problem.
  5. They’re soft to the touch.  Brand new bags are a little stiff but get broken in quickly.  Within a few weeks (depending on how often you use them) they become really soft and pliable.
  6. They look cute.  They come in dozens of different patterns that range from sleek to earthy to kid friendly.  You’re guaranteed to find something you like.  The coloring also holds up well, after 3 years  I haven’t noticed any fading or discoloration.

So if you want a re-usable bag that is durable, good looking, compact and convenient – Envirosax is the best I’ve found.  Even the baggers at our grocery store notice them.  Just last week a teenage guy was bagging my groceries and commented on how much they could hold.  I immediately got way too excited and he laughed with (at?) me and said, “wow, this is the first time I’ve ever been impressed by a bag!”

You can find Envirosax bags on their website:, on other sites such as Amazon: and sometimes in stores such as Whole Foods.
