Homemade Spiced Pumpkin Latte

Homemade Spiced Pumpkin Latte

A steaming, pumpkin latte is an irresistible treat during these first cold days of fall.  However, they are not cheap!  I have better things to spend $5 on so I set out to make my own recipe.  The result is rich, creamy, very nicely spiced and WAY less expensive.  I make enough spice blend for a week’s worth of lattes (or a large batch to share with friends).  Here’s my take on this toasty seasonal brew:

Spiced Pumpkin Latte

Yields about 7 lattes

Pumpkin Spice Blend Ingredients:

  • 1 (15) oz can pureed pumpkin
  • 1 (14) oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 Tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon additional spices – any combination of pumpkin pie spice, ground nutmeg, ginger, cloves or allspice

Latte ingredients (per latte):

  • ¼ – ½ cup Pumpkin Spice Blend (above)
  • 1 cup coffee
  • Milk (optional)
  • Whipped cream

  • Place all of the pumpkin spice ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth.
  • For each latte, just add pumpkin spice blend to taste to your hot coffee.  If you like a milkier latte, add some milk (optional).  Then stir, top whipped cream and enjoy!
  • Store leftover Pumpkin Spice Blend in an airtight container in the fridge (I use a mason jar).  Use within a week.

Notes: The pumpkin spice blend adds fall flavor to more than just coffee.  Mix a scoop into hot milk for a pumpkin steamer.  Add it to yogurt along with a handful of granola for a tasty breakfast.  Puree with vanilla ice-cream for a pumpkin milkshake.  Layer with chunks of pound cake and whipped cream for an autumn trifle…
