Strawberry Banana Popsicles

These classic popsicles are simple, healthy and delicious. The bananas create a smooth creamy texture and the strawberries give them a bright pop of fresh flavor.  This is a much loved flavor combination and a great way to use up extra bananas before they go bad!

Strawberry Banana Pops

Yields 4-6 popsicles (16 oz total)

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 3/4 cup yogurt (plain, vanilla or strawberry)
  • 3/4 cup strawberries, diced

Directions:

  • Puree the bananas and yogurt in a blender until very smooth.
  • Add diced strawberries and pulse a few times to incorporate.
  • Pour into popsicle molds and freeze until solid.

Notes:

  • Yogurt – I use whole milk yogurt for the creamiest popsicles.  My absolute favorite for this recipe is Stonyfield Farm’s whole milk vanilla.  But if you prefer lower fat, any type of yogurt works.  If you use plain yogurt you may want to add a little honey or a dash of vanilla extract for extra flavor – just taste the batter before you pour it into the molds and adjust accordingly.
  • Fruit – Many other fruits (or a combination) can be substituted for strawberries.  Some personal favorites include blueberries, raspberries, peaches and non-fruit items such as chocolate chips or walnuts.
  • Non-Dairy option – if you want a non-dairy popsicle or if you just have a ton of bananas you want to use up, you can omit the yogurt and just add an extra banana or two to make up for the volume.
